Enhanced Clinical Care
Our goals are to support families at the time of diagnosis and beyond as well as to enhance family-centered care across institutions and departments.
Examples of the impact of the Autism Consortium on clinical care so far include:
- Physicians are able to see increased number of patients and provide enhanced quality of care due to the addition of the Autism Resource Specialist program
- A new autism speciality clinic was established at one hospital to provide better and more focused care
- A new monthly "New Parent Orientation" program was developed and is led by Autism Resource Specialists
- Physicians from all hospitals in our clinical network meet quarterly to share best practices and new ideas
- A new standard of care for clinical genetic testing for ASDs (karyotype, Fragile X and chromosomal microarray) has been adopted by all affiliated hospitals
